Super Escape Monday: Laughter Will Save Us

tumblr_m0rcp2C7zV1qam8b5o1_400Dunno about you guys but holy fuckballs I’m depressed today. Back at the grind, back sitting slumped in front of a laptop from 8.30 – 5.30, Christmas and New Year a distant memory, nothing to look forward to but more indentured servitude.

I had a flippin badass holiday though, stayed right here in the Mother City and did a whole lot of nothing. I hope you guys had a killer holiday too, you deserved one because you are motherflippin’ awesome.

So anyway, to chase the post-holiday blues away I found a whole bunch of funny stuffs to make ya’ll LOLSHYSYPOTSY*!

So let’s kick it off with this gem of a video. Sorry if you’ve seen this one already, it’s the best news reporter fails of 2012.

Moving right along, here’s some random funny shit courtesy of one of my all-time favourite sites, Fuck Yeah Dementia!

And now for something completely different: goats.

Feeling any better? Little bit? Then my job here is done.

See ya’ll tomorrow for more back to work badassery Winking smile

Escape Monday: The World’s Most Colourful Sea Creatures

colorful05-regal-angelfish_17429_600x450Confession time. I stole EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE IMAGES from the National Geographic website, which you can visit here if you’d like to find out more about the creatures below.

In the meantime, you can kick back with your morning coffee, play The Little Mermaid soundtrack in the background and just get completely lost in how peaceful, colourful and rad sea creatures are.

I mean holy shit. Think about it guys! Over 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered in water, so there is all kinds of cool stuff down there that we are probably not even aware of.

All the more reason why I should have taken that Groupon “Beginner’s Scuba-Diving Course” J-Rab bought for my birthday last year instead of letting it expire.

Lame-o, Slicky-T. Lame-O!

Last week of November guys – this time next month we’re all gonna be nursing Christmas hangovers and wandering where the hell our pants are.

We’re nearly there. It’s the final sprint.

Man up soldier, you got this Winking smile

Escape Monday: FIngers Of God

BoguslawStrempel9I’ve always thought the way smoke moves through light looks really cool. This swirling, breaking mass of particles catching the light, making badass shifting dragon-shapes.

But the way light moves through fog over sweeping, majestic landscapes also rates right up there for me when it comes to natural phenomena that look amazing.

Especially when the light breaks into individual rays. I call them Fingers Of God. Actually, J-Rab calls them that, I’m not sure what the actual term is, probably adiabatic cumulo-nimbus low pressure foggified zones (ACNLPFZAs).

Please enjoy the following pics:

Yay fog!

Escape Monday: Hilarious Haunted House Pics

haunted-house-niagara-falls-nightmare-fear-factory-1Yes, yes I know Halloween is long gone and you guys are probably just as sick as I am of seeing any Halloween-related sheeit, but you need to see these pics!

I’ve stolen all of these shamelessly off Bored Panda, but originally they were taken at the world famous “Nightmares Fear Factory” at the Haunted House in Niagara Falls in Canada.

Check out the Nightmares Fear Factory official site here if you want to try and figure out what exactly is making the people in the pictures below literally shit in their pants with fear. Probably not so funny if you’re one of these people, but man-o-man, I pissed myself laughing at some of these pics!

Escape Monday: Luminescent Tape Art

ingenious-creative-cubes-from-neon-tape-by-aakash-nihalani-20I’m a little sceptical of this one, I must be honest. The dealy-o here is that this Brooklyn based artist (Aakash Nihalani) sticks luminescent tape to stuff to create the art you are about to see.

What you’ll also see though are photos that I am almost 100% certain are photoshopped up the wazoo. The end result is still really cool though, but there’s no way he could have created these scenes with luminescent tape.

There’s a video I’ve also posted below that shows how he does this but only watch it if you really feel like killing time at work because it’s literally just a guy sticking luminescent tape on stuff.

Rad, ne?

Here’s the vid which explains nothing:

At what point in your life do you think to yourself “Luminescent tape! Fuck! That’s it! I’m gonna stick that shit all over stuff in 3D geometric shapes!”

Sorry. I’m just in a crappy mood because I haven’t had my first cuppa Joe yet.

Lemme get on that…

Escape Monday: Let’s Get High

4-10bWhat better way to escape the drudgery of another Monday than getting good and high, right? I mean hell, it’s the only real alternative to having to deal with another kak Monday.

So sit back, relax and dig these pics taken above the clouds from various very, very high places all over the world courtesy of this weirdly named site.

Oh what? You thought I meant “high” in the figurative sense? Shit dude, go for it man. I mean, officially I don’t advocate that kind of stuffs here on TFW because my mom reads these posts (hi mom!) but yeah. Blaze on Puff The Magic Dragon! Let the good times roll!

Hope you dug getting high with your Tiger pal Winking smile

Shine on you crazy diamonds and let’s show this muthufukkin’ day who’s boss!

Escape Monday: The Art Of Jeremy Geddes

Gedde8I’m not artist and you could probably fill ten libraries with all the stuff I don’t know about art, but I know what I like and why I like it.

I stumbled on Jeremy Geddes when looking for some cool images to help you escape Monday and was instantly fascinated by his work. It would be awesome to see these paintings in real life, I don’t think these images do them any justice.

These oil paintings are part of a series called “Exhale” and feature people in suspended animation in urban scenes that are being destroyed. The overall effect is pretty powerful – some almost look like freeze frames of bomb blasts made all the more real by Geddes’ meticulous attention to detail.

Check it:

When I’m rich and famous one day, I’ll have art like this on my walls.

And yes, you can come visit for some fine single malt and a stroll through my hedge maze Winking smile

Escape Monday: The Most Badass GoPro Pics Ever Taken

gopro3It’s crazy how much more incredibly badass GoPro cameras have made extreme sports. The ability to attach those suckers to pretty much anything means as an audience, we can be right there in the moment.

So instead of slouching at your desk, sipping your coffee in a typical “fuck my life” Monday slump, why not lose yourself for a minute in these awesome GoPro pics.

Full credit once again to My Modern Met for these other level sheeit pics. Hit that link to get the low-down behind these pics. Or just scroll down and be lazy, I’m totally fine with that.

Escape Monday: Insane Photos of Ocean Lava

SelwayandKale1Lava has always fascinated me. Something about it is so primordial – rocks in their liquid form, I mean shit, how badass is that?!

The following pics were shot by photographers Nick Selway and CJ Kale who claim they are the only photographers to ever enter the surf next to an active volcano to do lava surf photography.

The resulting photos are nothing short of insane. Two powerful elements merging and swirling together, duking it out to see which is mightier. Some of the pics literally look like Titans doing battle so yeah, if this doesn’t help you escape Monday for a few minutes, nothing will.

Full credit to www.mymodernmet.com where I sourced these images.

I really dig photography like this. In fact, finding material for my Escape Mondays posts is fast becoming one of my favourite blogging pastimes.

We live in an incredible world, which is easy to forget when you spend 5 days out of 7 locked in what feels like perpetual corporate-grey cubicle limbo.

Escape Monday: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4-10It’s important to have a “happy place”. A mental place you can retreat to when you’re in the middle of a particularly boring meeting / having lunch with the in-laws / at the dentist having root canal.

That’s really what the Escape Monday project is all about. Giving you guys some awesome images to file in your “happy place” archive to make life more bearable.

The pics you’re about to see are all taken at Cabo San Lucas, a beach in Mexico that has some of the most stunning rock formations I’ve ever seen. Find this place in your mind the next time the boss craps on you for mentally tuning out every time someone craps on you.

Some Inception shit going on right there…

I’ve tried to give credit where it’s due to these images by not cropping the watermarks out, but I’d be stealing these outright if I didn’t include the link where you can check out more work by these artists: http://abduzeedo.com/breathtaking-photographs-cabo-san-lucas

There’s another Escape Monday post comin’ your way at 13.00 so don’t be a stranger cause I think this one’s gonna melt faces.

Literally.
