Escape Monday: Surreal Artwork of Igor Morski

sw-04Ever since I got my filthy little mitts on this gigantic Dali coffee table book back when I was eleven or twelve years old, I’ve always really enjoyed good surrealism.

Sure, there are millions of artists who do it really badly and deserve to be fed mind-altering hallucinogenic drugs until they can do it right, but every once in awhile a decent once comes around like Igor Morski.

I’m not saying this guy is going to change the world with his paintings, but I found them at least interesting enough to repost for you guys to have a look at and decide for yourselves if he’s any good.

His work goes a little something… like this…

Pretty intense stuffs right there. You can check out more of his work here.

Also, kudos to Abduzeedo which is where I found all the pics above.

Good luck with the rest of today everyone. I know it’s Monday, BUT because Friday is a public holiday, you can totes pretend today is actually Tuesday.

Escape Monday: Rad Behind The Scenes Photos From Famous Films

16-Photos-From-Behind-The-Scenes-Of-Famous-Films-16Watching movies you forget that when they were being made, the cameras probably spent more time off than on and what was a super serious, iconic scene quickly turned into bored actors dicking around.

That’s why I love stumbling on pics like these that give you a taste of what was happening behind the curtain when movies like Jaws, Star Wars, Terminator and The Shining were being made.

It’s a pretty cool reminder that despite the massive impact these films have had on pop culture, they were made by people just like you and I who were probably bored to tears a lot of the time.

Take the guys manning the camera rig for this famous scene from The Shining for example.

Ho hum.

And James Cameron, realising way too late that he got into the water before taking his watch off again.

And so on and so on.

Good luck with your respective Mondays, hang in there, on Thursday we all get to sleep in and then after that, we’re hitting the beach if it’s sunny or the DVD store if it isn’t and relaxing to the maximum.

Yeeeeeeee-ha!

Escape Monday: Stunning Close-Up Pics Of Elements

element-tanaka-telluriumAhh, Monday. Just like that the whole cycle starts up again and you’re back where you started, the weekend just a lingering memory of those precious two days in which you could do any damn thing you pleased.

I spent mine back in The Big Smoke for a wedding. It was a pretty intense trip both in its brevity and in the general insanity that transpired, but more about that in the posts to follow.

In the meantime I found some pretty intense photos of various elements from the periodic table snapped by Japanese chemist and photographer R Tanaka that are pretty mesmerising to say the least.

Check it:

Gonna be an intense week for posting this week Party People, got some pretty killer content lined up so don’t be a stranger.

Until then Winking smile

Escape Monday: Pics From The “Best Of Russia 2012” Competition

tower-perspective_2494677kRussians are a weird bunch at the best of times. The only first-hand experience I’ve had of them was when J-Rab and I were in Thailand on an island tour with about 30 of them in a speedboat with us.

The trip lasted a good 10 hours and during the course of it we saw some of Thailand’s most beautiful islands, but do you think these flippin’ Ruskies cracked one goddamn smile at any point during the trip?!

It was like we were stuck on a boat with a buncha miserable shop mannequins. That’s what made the photos I’m about to show you all the more remarkable. The depth of emotion they capture and communicate is truly amazing.

They’re from the annual “Best Of Russia” photo competition, which is open to amateurs and professionals alike. The only proviso is that the photos have to be from 2012.

Check it:

And my favourite of the whole bunch (because I’m having a daughter, and when she grows up, I want her to be a little badass like this):

Hope you liked those pics, if you want to check out more, hit this link.

Later Partytjie Mense!

Escape Monday: Best Examples Of The ‘You Had ONE Job’ Meme

youhadonejob10So in case you guys haven’t seen any of these yet allow me to explain. There’s a website called hadonejob.com that’s dedicated to people who fluff the simplest tasks with hilarious results.

I figured this would make for a great post as part of the “Escape Monday” series seeing as we’re all guilty of committing fails in the workplace at one time or another, a lot of which probably happen on Mondays.

So kick back with your morning coffee and scroll down to see some great examples that prove the time-honoured statement “nobody’s perfect”. Props to My Modern Met for compiling this best-of list.

So there you have it folks, irrefutable proof that people are goddamn retarded.

The stair rail was my favourite. That and Batman.

Tune in later today for another Escape Monday post, plannin’ on churning another one out at lunchtime.

Escape Monday: Madagascar’s Stone Forest

Today, this Monday in particular, is one I would actually pay good money to just skip. Hit the fast-forward button and make it 6pm in the blink of an eye – how about that? Would be awesome right?

Instead all I can offer you is this “Escape Monday” post, so pack your bags party people, we are heading to the Stone Forest of Madagascar for the rest of today, yeeeeeha!

It’s totally fine, your boss said all that important stuff you were supposed to have done today can wait until tomorrow, no sweat. So with no further ado, let’s head on down to the Bemaraha National Park in West Madagascar and get stoned in the Stone Forest.

All of the pics above were mooched off the National Geographic site (click here to see more).

Good luck with today everyone.

I think we’re all gonna need it…

Escape Monday: Rainbows, Muthufukkahs!

rainbowIs there anything more beautiful than a muthufukkin RAINBOW?! Look me in the eye and tell me there is something more beautiful than a muthufukkin rainbow. Go ahead. I dare ya. I double dare ya, muthufukkah.

Sorry. I know, too early right? It’s bad enough that it’s Monday without ol’ Slicky-T assaulting us with poorly spelled capital-letter swearwords and bad Pulp Fiction paraphrasing.

Anyway, it’s tired and I’m late and more than anything right now what I need is to collapse face-first on my bed and slip into a 10-hour coma. It’s 2am as I write this. J-Rab left for London last night and in her absence I decided to drink 5 cups of coffee and spend ten hours writing a strat document.

So before I start gibbering like a crazy person, here are rainbows to make you happy:

Rainbows happen when Morgan Freeman nails a voice-over narration on the first take, so in other words, over three hundred times a second (true story).

I hope you liked those rainbows. Hopefully later I’ll have something a little juicier for you to sink your teeth into.

Om nomnomnom…

Escape Monday: The World’s Most Surreal Man-Made Places (Part un)

main-qimg-659a77b3fa41f35e532ea08347d24a91We continue our journey into the world’s most surreal places this week with a look at some of the crazy shit that we have built over the past few thousand years.

I must say, of all the places listed below, I think I’d heard of maybe three of them which just goes to show how badly I need to get out there into the big bad world and explore a little.

But yeah, unless I win the lottery, that’s not going to happen anytime soon. Instead I just write these posts and gaze longingly at pics of amazing places I could be visiting if I ever actually managed to get my shit together.

A guy can dream right?

There are more of where these came from if you can handle some more wistful staring at your computer screen.

I’ll see if I can get em up at around lunchtime.

Later party People.

Escape Monday: The World’s Most Surreal Places (Part Dos)

main-qimg-0068b231ea35173e9f15c7d533e462caI try to keep my promises here at SlickTiger Industries headquarters, which means when I say I’m going to post more insane pics of the World’s Most Surreal Places, I make that shit happen.

You’d be forgiven for thinking these pics had been digitally manipulated in some way because the places you are about to see are seriously that bizarre / staggeringly beautiful.

Just so we’re all above board and I don’t get sued for rampant plagiarism, these images and all the ones in the previous post are from this site (www.quora.com). Next week we’re going to take things to the next level and check out surreal man-made places.

BAM!

And here comes my personal favourite. Like something straight outta Doctor Seuss:

What a crazy beautiful world we live in.

Escape Monday: The World’s Most Surreal Places (Part Un)

main-qimg-dd3d436b932d652eb4455c4c667db0eaIt’s Monday again and you are sad. On the way to work this morning you were all like “Ugh. This place again.” It will get better as the week goes on, but for now the outlook is a little bleak.

So you’re hitting up this motherflippin SICK site because you know your Tiger pal has your back when it comes to Mondays and today is a PRIME example of just that.

Hold my hand. We are going to take a magical trip to the world’s most surreal natural places to reaffirm how amazing the planet we live on is, restore your faith in the world and give you a couple of ideas of where to spend your next holiday.

Huh. Not sure if I feel better about it being Monday, or worse because WHY THE FUCK AM I SITTING HERE WITH ALL THOSE COOL PLACES OUT THERE I COULD BE AT RIGHT NOW!

More at lunchtime. Watch this space mofos.
